My own awesome bump photos…

Photo shoots are not something new to me. Actually, I am very very familiar with photo shoots, but  I am not so familiar with being on the subject side of the camera. Don’t get me wrong, I am regularly the subject of a test shot while a friend might be testing lighting at a wedding… and I guarantee they all showcase me with some sort of ridiculous face for the camera. I don’t generally speaking find myself as a very photogenic person so I avoid that particular side of the camera. And, everyone I am usually around expects me to be taking the pictures… until this last weekend.

Pete and I don’t have any photos of the two of us since we got married back in 2006, so we definitely wanted to do maternity photos. I love photographing maternity so much it would be a shame to not have my own taken, but it was not an easy choice asking which one of my amazingly talented friends to capture this for me.  I ended up asking my friend Laurel (check out more of her amazing work here) to photograph the session. I wanted some belly shots and also some shots that were more about me and Pete than just the belly seeing that we had never had engagement photos, so this was important to me. We had such a good time in the studio being super cuddly and belly centered and then out and about in Eastlake looking for great funky doorways that I love.

All I can say to Laurel is WOW and Thank you SO much. I’ve never had photos I felt so beautiful in. I treasure these!!! And my hubby looks so darn smokin too!

It was near impossible choosing the pictures for this blog post, so be ware… there are a bunch:)

Like I said, I like making funny faces…

I NEVER have matching socks … it’s how I roll

and I am rarely serious…

Nekkid!!!  (hehehe)

I have a love affair with forgotten looking areas of town…

And we ended up at Pete’s Park… so fitting:)

…Beard – no beard…

And one to torture my friends and family. There is a segment of our studio shoot that we painted the babies name onto my belly which will be unveiled after the baby is born. We ended up getting into a little bit of a paint war. It was fun:)I love this shot, and you can’t see the name on the belly… so the secret is still safe (with Laurel). But I do know it will torture my friends and family not being able to see the name (Karine).

Newborn | Renton | Baby Maiya

I got to meet little Maiya right at the beginning. A tender 4 days old and adorably sleepy. It was fun watching mom, dad and grandma dote on her every need while we captured these fleeting moments of the first week of her life, and I couldn’t love the images more!

I can’t wait to see this little one grow!

Enjoy!

This picture of Maiya and her dad makes my heart melt.

6 months old | Seattle | Baby Ethan

profile of baby portrait

Last weekend I got to meet the cutest little baby boy. Ethan is 6 months old and already full of personality and fun little looks. It’s amazing how much expression one so young can give. It was fun rolling around on the floor with little Ethan for our portrait session… as much “rolling” as I can do these days at least. But we ended with some fun moments, cute little smiles and looks of intrigue.

3 months | Bellevue | Baby Aaron

In the next couple of weeks, I am going to have a bunch of new posts from shoots I did this fall. I can finally catch up on blogging some of the adorable families and babies I photographed and share them with you!

First one is little Aaron. He was so cute in his santa costume and diaper that made him look like a minature sumo wrestler! He was such a happy guy to photograph, completely enthralled with my flash!

Check out this little grin… totally going to have the girls smitten in  a couple of years.

Harper | Newborn | Seattle, WA

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting beautiful baby Harper and her parents. Harper is a fragile and beautiful 10 days old or so, and she was such a great subject.

I find that being around newborns is even more fun now that I am expecting my own. That much more a marvel that such a little being can be so complete and so solid even though, to our eyes they seem so fragile!

I love this picture of Harper… it looks likes she is trying to share a secret with us!
