You know how sometimes you meet people and you know instantly that they are your type of people? People that just click with you?
Well, that is what it felt like about 3 minutes into the first meeting I had with Alison and Russ. These two are so down to earth and such open and honest souls, that I loved them right off the bat. And what is even better? When I get just as excited for their wedding as they are because I know that it was the perfect step for these two as people and as a couple.
Well, that was over a year ago now, that I met Alison and Russ, and I got to know them even better through our meetings and their awesome UW engagement session this spring. I love when couples are down to try fun things in photos![]()
So, they were married on the last weekend of August on a overcast but still nice and warm day at the MonteVilla Farmhouse in Bothell. The excitement was obvious in both the girls and boys rooms. These two have been together for almost 10 years… so everyone was excited to see their union move into foreverland…

It’s not very often the toast’s come with props, but I loved Diana’s (MOH) prop. Gotta love a teenager’s desperate need to make their hair anything but what it is naturally. But, I think everyone agrees, Alison’s curly hair is beautiful now that she embraces it!

And I loved that Alison had a special dance with her brothers to Simon and Garfunkel’s “You can call me Al” because of a childhood nickname! That entire wedding party had some awesome dance moves!
The Sangria was a hit! Russ used to work at a restaurant that served this sangria, and when he got engaged last year, the restaurant brewed a batch and let it mix for the whole year in anticipation of the wedding! I heard it was out of this world good!
Congrats Alison and Russ. Thank you for sharing such an amazing day with me and I can’t wait to get you the rest of your pictures!!!

Family is a funny concept. There are people who are your blood who you never seem to see and completely loose track of but they are family. And then there is the family that you make. The people you choose to include in your life and try to keep track of through all kinds of distance, even though, technically speaking, they are not family. It’s these people that, in my heart, are that much more than family.
