This wedding was amazing. It was amazing, not only because it was beautiful, but because Jen and Robbie didn’t let the unexpected rain put a damper on their outdoor wedding day. They researched the day before deciding on having no “rain” plan for their Gasworks Park wedding. The weekend of August 7th was Seafair weekend and one of the least likely weekends all year long in Seattle to rain. Perfect for a beautiful outdoor wedding overlooking downtown Seattle.
Well, Seattle decided to throw everyone through a loop and make it POUR all day. It never even phased them. Jen was a bundle of smiles and excitement from the moment I showed up; nothing was going to affect the day she got to marry Robbie.
So, that morning, I ran over to the amazing Bella Umbrella store in Ballard, where she rents and sells vintage and otherwise amazing umbrella’s for all sorts of occasions. She was a bit short on supply seeing that everyone else with outdoor weddings that weekend also thought of her, but we got some amazing umbrella’s for the girls and headed for Gasworks Park.

Even though the rain was still going strong by the time the ceremony was to start, Jen wanted her wedding right where she planned it. Everyone donned their umbrellas and joined the bridal party for the ceremony where Jen and Robbie included a “stone ceremony” into their regular ceremony. All guests were invited to gather a stone from the basket of stones that Jen and Robbie have gathered, and give the stones to them with a wish or congratulation. It was a beautiful addition to their special day.

Then they hopped into a pedi cab to take them from Gasworks to the UW Club.

Their favors were small bottles of Blackberry jam that Jen made last blackberry season. Her own special recipe!

I also loved the corks they used for their seating assignments. They saved all the corks they have from every bottle of wine they shared in their relationship and used them as a detail in their wedding!
Thank you Jen and Robbie for sharing such a beautiful day with me! I am sad you have moved to Chicago (3 days after the wedding!!!!) because that means I won’t be able to see you and Robbie grow into your relationship and start a family down the road, but I am super excited for your upcoming adventures.
