Seattle Soundbite 2009 rocked at the Showbox Sodo last Thursday! What a great idea? Take food (which we all like) in one hand and local music¬† (which is what Seattle is known for) in the other… then smash your hands together and…BAM… you get the Seattle Soundbite! This is Soundbite’s second year and it was a blast. Proceeds for the night go to the Vera Project which is a Seattle based music-arts center run by youth and to ProStart which helps teach youth about culinary arts and food service management. They are both great programs that reach out to kids in the Seattle area and teach them ways in bettering themselves!
For the Sound…
The bands who played had to qualify by not only being talented bands, but at least one of their band members had to be currently employed at a Seattle restaurant. Let me tell you there are some crazy talented people out there making your drinks and bussing your tables!
First band up was¬† the Bird Show of North America . This band has an interesting edge. They are purely instrumental and their lead guy paints watercolor images of birds to the tune of the music. This is the second time I’ve seen these guys and it is pretty impressive!
Second on stage was the Sue Quigley Band. She’s got some major lungs on her!
Third to go on was Doctor Doctor
These guys had more energy than most 2 year olds I know! It was awesome to watch them on stage!
Puget Sound System was onstage next. They have a sort of Sublime sound to me, which I loved.
The final Seattle band was Truce
And closing it up for the night was Helio Sequence from Portland.
And then there is the Bite:
There were 12 restaurants that also participating. They were selling little bites of some of the gourmet food they offer. Let me tell you….AMAZING FOOD!!! no joke!

The amazing chefs at Cantinetta in Wallingford made these doughnuts fresh at the show. They are even tastier than  they look!
Then there was Cremant with their tasty sandwiches
Next down we have Ray’s Cafe.¬† Ray’s is such a staple in Seattle that I don’t think I know anyone who hasn’t been there. They just keep getting better and better. Check them out here
Palace Kitchen was there too with pulled pork sandwiches
The Red Door Ale House located in Fremont showcased their curry chicken lettuce wrap!
Via Tribunali was there with amazing mini pizzas. They were very popular!
What a great idea! Its like a book of matches but it is a book of toothpicks! This is the most clever packaging I have seen. Very impressed!
Barrio was there with a nice surprise. You would think that it is just a couple chips with a dip on it… but oh no! When I put that chip in my mouth, there was a sudden explosion of flavor! It was amazing and left my mouth watering. It was such an awesome surprise!

They also had amazing little bites. Their’s was prunes with a Gorgonzola cheese , pine nuts and other ingredients. Delicious!
Tango brought spicy and delicious tacos. (and don’t worry all you food service people out there, I asked her to hold the taco with no glove on… as gloves don’t make for very nice photos)

All the food all night was amazing and the night was a success!
